As recently as ten years ago, Forex Currency Trading was confined to the large institutions and banks as they only had access to the tools and systems required to meet the then high barriers of entry set in the Forex Trading game. Leverage is the key for profiting in Forex. Forex dealers often allow their clients to trade with high margin. Margin trading refers to the leverage amount given to the traders to make purchase in the FOREX market. Typical FOREX margins can go up to 100 to 1 or even 200 to 1 where traders are given the power to buy 100 to 200 times more than what they can afford. With high leverage rates in Forex market, traders often find themselves controlling a big sum of money with a little cash put on the table.
Forex scams attract customers with sophisticated-sounding offers placed in newspaper advertisements, radio promotions, or on Internet sites. Promoters often lure investors with the concept of leverage: the right to control a large amount of foreign currency with an initial payment representing only a fraction of the total cost. Coupled with predictions about supposedly inevitable increases in currency prices, these contracts are said to offer huge returns over a short time, with little or no downside risk.
The first time Rajibuddin Mandal, a family doctor in Birmingham, England, tried his hand at trading currencies online, he lost 2,000 British pounds. From that experience, he concluded that the foreign-exchange market was too big, too complex and too hazardous for amateur investors like himself. He decided he needed help from the professionals.
Ninety percent of traders in forex end up losing money, it said. Secure Investment said it offered something safer: It made trading decisions for investors and guaranteed their principal. That meant, Mandal thought, that even if he didn't make money, the worst that could happen would be that he would break even, Bloomberg Markets will report in its December issue.
Range trading the more volatile pairs is also possible, and in fact you will often find ranges that extend to 50 pips or more. However, because of the volatility of these pairs, price movement can work against you just as easily as it can work in your favor and many a Range trader has found themselves suddenly at -40 pips or more on what they were hoping would be a quick 20 pip gain.
